Helping My Brother Build a Boat

Story and illustration by Mallory Blankenship, Age 9.

Today I helped my brother's team from New River Middle School build a boat for  a race. It was a lot of fun but a little hard.

We are still finding the right color to paint on it. We want to paint it black, and put pirate flags on the front and back. But we are first trying to build the boat so it won't leak or even sink.

This is a picture of Mallory fishing and catching a catfish off of a pontoon boat.

So, I twisted the wires so the 2 boards would stay together. So, in my life time I would really want to be on a team and be able to build a boat, and be able to be a paddler, just like my biggest brother, David.

He is 14 and goes to New River Middle and takes Marine Science and biology.
